My work explores
transformational moments.
I’m curious about the internal and external experience of change:
What does a moment of great change feel like? What does it look like?
How do we navigate transitions both privately and within the context of our relationships?
What holds us back from recognizing something in ourselves or others that has shifted?
I use fiber arts and ceramics to reflect on this process. The two practices offer their own unique qualities to explore change: fiber arts, including felting and embroidery, are soft, malleable, and easily alterable; ceramics are hard, structured, and essentially unchanging after their final firings. In both of these practices, I love to play with repetition, varying texture, imperfect or organic shapes, and scale.
